Internships
We're always looking for bright and dedicated people interested in learning about and exploring the not-for-profit arts world. Internships run at various times throughout the year, so do check back with us for updated positions:
Communications Intern:
Kaufman Center seeks an Intern in its busy Communications Department to assist with a variety of projects, including:
1) Press Relations
Monitor local media and maintain archive for Kaufman Center press clips; communicate press information to appropriate staff members; assist with maintenance of press contact database; help with press release mailings.
2) Marketing and Publications
Participate in the production of various brochures, newsletters, calendars and other direct mail campaigns; collect, organize, and verify information; write and proof copy items; research photos and brainstorm about other visual ideas; create a photo archive for past and future institutional photographs. Develop targeted distribution lists.
3) Advertising
Research potential advertisers; create and update a collection of rate cards and publication samples that would be appropriate for the promotion of Kaufman Center programs.
4) Website Development
Assist with the ongoing maintenance of kaufman-center.org by contributing visual ideas, gathering content and organizing information; research related sites on the Internet and maintain an e-mail contact database for distributing Kaufman Center information.
This is an excellent opportunity for college students and/or recent college graduates with a background and interest in music, performing arts, nonprofits, education, arts administration, fundraising and event planning. Qualified candidates will be independent; organized; possess excellent writing, computer and interpersonal skills and a demonstrated interest in the arts; and be enthusiastic and flexible.
Requirements: This is an UNPAID internship, but Interns making a minimum commitment of 20 hours per week will have the opportunity to attend certain Lucy Moses School classes at a discount and Merkin Concert Hall performances, as tickets are available. A public transportation stipend is also offered.
Dates: Approximately two to three days per week
Hours: 10:00 am – 6:00 pm
Location: Kaufman Center is conveniently located at 129 W. 67th Street, west of Broadway, near the M5, M7, M11, M66 and M104 buses, and one block from the Local 1 Subway at 66th Street. There are many parking garages close to the Center.

Concert Division Intern:
Merkin Concert Hall seeks a part-time intern in the Concert Division.
This is an excellent opportunity for college students and/or recent college graduates with an interest in music, performing arts, nonprofits, education and arts administration. Qualified candidates will be independent; organized; possess excellent writing, computer and interpersonal skills and a demonstrated interest in the arts; and be enthusiastic and flexible.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities will include helping to coordinate logistics for concerts during the season, working on projects with other departments, organizing publicity materials, assisting with filing and organizing Merkin Hall programs, updating presentation books and publicity files, and must be available to help out on Merkin event days.
Requirements:
This is an UNPAID internship, but Interns making a minimum commitment of 20 hours per week will have the opportunity to attend certain Lucy Moses School classes and Merkin Concert Hall performances at a discount, depending on availability. A public transportation stipend is also offered. Interns should have basic computer skills, background in music preferred, and knowledge of classical music is helpful.
Hours: Part-time, flexible

Development Intern
Kaufman Center seeks an Intern in its busy Development Department to assist with a variety of projects, including: donor research and correspondence; solicitation mailings; maintenance of fundraising database; organization of event archives; day-to-day office management, preparation of information packets; and some clerical tasks.
This is an excellent opportunity for college students and/or recent college graduates with a background and interest in music, performing arts, nonprofits, education, arts administration, fundraising and event planning. Qualified candidates will be independent; organized; possess excellent writing, computer and interpersonal skills and a demonstrated interest in the arts; and be enthusiastic and flexible.
Requirements:
