Directed by celebrated jazz
guitarist Roni Ben-Hur, this unique
program is designed for singers and
instrumentalists of all levels, from
beginners to advanced students. We offer
ensemble classes as well as private
instruction. Our faculty members are
some of the top jazz musicians in the
City, here to provide you with a fun
and satisfying learning experience that
cant be found anywhere else in New York.

INTRODUCTION TO JAZZ
Instrumental and vocal students develop improvisational skills
on their specific instruments by using basic scales and chords
in conjunction with jazz repertoire.

JAZZ GUITAR AND HARMONY
An insight into jazz harmony as it
relates to the guitar. Students will
learn to construct chord voicings,
play chord progressions and "comp"
on jazz standards (play accompaniment arrangements).
Additionally, students will study a variety of intros
and endings useful in an ensemble setting, as well
as arrangements for solo (unaccompanied) guitar.

JAZZ IMPROVISATION AND HARMONY
By learning to recognize and use scales,
advanced chord voicing and the basic
harmonic progressions used in jazz, instrumental
and vocal jazz students construct solos and
develop their own repertoire. The class also concentrates
on developing the student's knowledge of
their instruments and their technique using
jazz exercises developed by Barry Harris. The course includes
performance opportunities and most meetings include jam sessions.

JAZZ VOCAL WORKSHOP
This workshop is designed for singers of all levels. Topics include leading
a band, writing lead sheets, selecting repertoire, communication with the audience
and stage presence. An accompanist is provided for each class and the workshop
culminates in a recital (with rhythm section) at the end of the semester. Maximum
eight students.

JAZZ ENSEMBLE
Intermediate and advanced instrumentalists and vocalists
expand their repertoire, play arrangements as part of a
group, and receive coaching. The ensemble performs in a
recital at the end of each semester. Maximum eight students.

JAZZ PRIVATE INSTRUCTION
Private lesson registration is ongoing. Students may register
