SIGHT-SINGING WITH ELISABETH FLEISCHER
New York's most
comprehensive sightsinging program makes
learning to read music simple and fun.
Students at every level progress rapidly,
gaining a practical understanding of
music theory, music history and compositional
techniques. Classes are taught by Elisabeth
Fleischer, hailed by New York Magazine
as "One of New York's great
teachers."
Beginner: Introduction
to pitch and rhythm reading, ear-training and
music theory.
Intermediate I:
In-depth study of modes, major and minor scales,
intervals, chromatic alteration and simple modulations,
singing rounds, part-music and solo literature.
Intermediate II: Intervals
in the context of "key," with emphasis
on the mastery of tonal conventions and chromaticism.
Lab Choir: Ensemble skills and
strategies for experienced readers, drawing from
Renaissance, Baroque and Romantic part-music, folk
arrangements and pop standards.
Rhythm Lab (Int. - Adv. students): Techniques for learning and performing rhythmically demanding repertoire with confidence.
