MERKIN NEWS
Welcome
Hear the reopening night concert on Counter Stream Radio
Welcome back to the new Merkin Concert Hall,
This season, after 30 years of providing a home for the exploration and enjoyment of music in all its forms, Merkin Concert Hall will be reinvented. It is undergoing a renovation which will preserve all the things we have come to love – the intimacy and acoustics, the unique architecture – while creating a beautiful new environment that befits the world-class performances presented here.
In the spirit of these changes, I am pleased to present a host of composers and performers that stretch the definitions of old and new, occasionally to the breaking point, and fuse tradition and innovation to create something wholly unique. We have titled this season “Re:Invention” and it draws from all corners of the musical landscape, including the finest in contemporary, classical, jazz and world music (with a healthy dose of classic country!)
Join us in January for our Grand Piano Marathon, and witness the magic of musical reinvention, as it begins anew.
Sincerely,
Gregory D. Evans
Director, Merkin Concert Hall
