Phillip Bimstein
Twenty-five year old composer Nico Muhly is notoriously difficult to categorize. He has been an arranger for vocal sensation Björk, an editor for Philip Glass and writes choral masses for Saint Thomas Church on Fifth Avenue. Muhly has promised a session of "Twitchy Minimalism Meets 16th-Century Austerity with Electronics" for soloists and tape. Phillip Bimstein is an iconoclastic "found sounds" composer and former MTV rocker whose best known compositions involve day-to-day sounds in such environments as a youth crisis center and his neighbor's cow pasture. His music will be performed by The Curiously Strong Winds, incorporating found sounds on tape. Hosted By John Schaefer of WNYC Radio.
