Margaret Leng Tan, who shattered musical boundaries with her elevation of the Toy Piano, continues the exploration of the numerous possibilities of "hands-in" piano begun decades ago by her mentor John Cage, as well as Henry Cowell and George Crumb (the "Three C's"). She will be joined by composer Stephen Montague in his Tongues of Fire for piano and live electronics. The dynamic new music and jazz pianist Sylvie Courvoisier also reaches inside the piano to draw out her own unique compositions and improvisations; her aesthetic is at once beautiful and mysterious.
