Calder Quartet
Tue. 04.08.08 at 2PM
"The Calder's sound is American — big, bold, firm, clean" (Los Angeles Times). Named for the pioneering visual artist Alexander Calder and one of the rising young ensembles to watch, the Calder Quartet recently completed its residency as The Juilliard School’s graduate string quartet and has enjoyed debuts at Alice Tully Hall, the Kennedy Center, and UCLA Live. Violinists Andrew Bulbrook and Benjamin Jacobson, violist Jonathan Moerschel and cellist Eric Byers will perform Mendelssohn's Quartet in a minor, Op. 13, Thomas Ades' “Arcadiana” and Schubert’s “Rosamunde.” In keeping with our Re:Invention programming, this concert will illustrate how composers translate their experience with other art forms into music.
This concert will be held in the newly renovated Merkin Concert Hall.
